Recipe: Dakgangjeong (닭강정)

Hello everyone, and hello December~
As usual.. I will start this new month with a new recipe on my blog!
And Dakgangjeong (닭강정) is the recipe of the month yay! Dakgangjeong is Korean sweet and crispy chicken, which is very yummy! The chicken is coated with a sweet and crispy sauce.. And actually I have been really obsessed with Dakgangjeong lately lol. Actually you can use any chunks of chicken from the whole chicken, but I personally prefer to only use the chicken wings.. So, it is up to your taste ^^

Fried chicken wings:
- 5 large chicken wings, cut into 2 pieces.
- 3 tbsp of flour.
- 2 tbsp of starch powder.
- 1 egg.
- 1 tsp of salt.
- 1/2 tsp of pepper.
- oil for deep frying.
Sweet & crispy sauce:
- 3 small ginger roots.
- 100 ml water.
- 1 tbsp of soy sauce.
- 1/2 tbsp of vinegar.
- 6 tbsp of sugar.
- Toasted peanuts.
- Toasted sesame seeds.
- Dried / fresh chili pepper (optional).


Mix flour, starch powder, egg, salt and pepper in a bowl.

After you rinse and drain the chicken wings, add them into the batter. Mix it well.

Deep fry the chicken wings for a few minutes until half-cooked.

Drain them for a while~

And deep fry the chicken wings for the second time until completely cooked.

Put them on the paper towel to drain the grease.

Peel the ginger roots, rinse them, and chop them thinly.

Add the ginger roots into the boiling water. Then add sugar, soy sauce, and vinegar.
Boil it on medium heat.

After 5 minutes, reduce the heat. And keep boil it on low heat for about 20 - 25 minutes.

The sauce thickens after 20 minutes, and just keep stirring the sauce to prevent burning.

Add the fried chicken wings, toasted peanuts, sesame seeds, and chili pepper (to give a spicy flavour). Mix it well, and turn off the heat.

And you are done~~!

Separate the chicken wings before they cool down, and I recommend you to eat them immediately while they are still warm! And oh, you can also add more ginger roots as much as you want! If you are curious about how they taste, believe it or not, the ginger will turn into chewy ginger candy! Omnomnom~

  3. hehe, kalo aku sausnya cuma pake bawang putih cincang yang ditumis, terus tambah saus tomat, kecap dan lada.... wuihhhh.... keterlaluan enaknya sayap ayam setengah kilo bisa abis sendiri deh, hahahaharakussaya.. :D
